I’d tell you that

tomorrow I won’t cry

That the day after

I’d remain soft

and unchanged by the

hard places and people

I visit I’d guarantee

perfection and take

small sips of water every half hour or so

I hate to say these

promises would be

weak and unfulfilled

Weak

and unfulfilled

Let’s drink the bottle

of old wine, today

It’s a good a day as any and

I can’t put anything else on that shelf until we do
