The Girl Pushing up Daisies

I planted a small tree today–

tomorrow it will die.

I can sense the decay I planted

today, and Mother?

She is angry that I ran away,

If only she knew why. If only I could fly;

I planted a small tree today, I’d rather plant one

in the clouds.

I planted a small tree today,

tomorrow it will die.
