Georgia Riordan, our Senior Poetry Editor, is a senior writing major with minors in English and art. Georgia has filled her life with art of all kinds. While she serves as a dedicated and insightful editor at Stillwater, she has also drawn the beautiful portraits for this year’s masthead. Her deep connection with art is evident in everything she does, as she brings fervent examination and sensitive intention to every part of life. When you meet Georgia, you are immediately aware of her confidence and self-assurance: basically, she’s a badass. She never hesitates to add her unique perspectives and insights to the creation and interpretation of the art she encounters.

In art, consuming or creating, Georgia values craft above all. Since her childhood, she’s made sure to get her hands in any and all mediums of art she could reach. In exploring the mediums that challenge her and those that come naturally to her, Georgia understands that the process of creating art is equally, if not more important than the ultimate outcome. As a former performer, she practices this concept in her music, singing for the sole purpose of the joy it brings her.

There is a kindness and openness about Georgia that makes her such a welcoming presence under circumstances of collaboration. As a writer and an editor, she gives every piece the time and attention that all art deserves. These characteristics will serve her well in her journey to teach creative writing at the collegiate level. You can find Georgia’s work in The Asbury Park Press, II Giornalino 2017, Zoetic Magazine, and online on Odyssey: after all, the best way to get to know her is through her art.
